Random Memories:

Took me to see Stevie Wonder and Genesis in concert. Steely Dan tunes remind me of you. I think a part of John Lennon lived inside you. You could play "blackbird" by the Beatles note for note. Scared the crap out of me many times with your driving skills, or lack of. Loved to listen to you play guitar in your room, or piano in the basement. Me, you and Eric pulling tobacco with Mr. Fields and some wild boys. You lived in Greensboro, Atlanta, Charlotte, Oak Island, California and even Australia. Playing a crazy game as kids that involved yelling "BIG DEAL!" and then running fast so that I wouldn't be tackled. Playing improv piano duets in the basement. Inventing monsters named GYLAC and MASARONI. Playing tennis one on one and with Mom and Dad (we shared the same horrible temper like McEnroe). When I hear John Lennon or Ringo Starr? yell "I've got blisters on my fingers" wow, it's you. Hanging out with you once at UNCG and watching you play the Moog Synth. Piano recitals with Mrs. Landwermann. Picking you up from guitar practice with Mom. Annoying the neighbors at 2am with outdoor electric guitar cranked up to volume eleven. Multitracking songs bouncing from 2 old radio shack cassette decks. Recording songs using 4 track casstte and then 8 track reel to reel and then eventually digital. Don't ride your bicycle while high, Rich had to put air in both tires and exploded both of them...Mom picked him up at the gas station. I remember you laying in bed reading and reading and reading, something I don't do enough of. Being a smart-ass, sarcastic teenager at the dinner table. Looking for your jersey number on the football field at Southeast High School. Playing "Marty Feldman Eyes" to the tune of "Betty Davis Eyes" on the organ and guitar. You said once that the exact moment you opened the door to a high school basketball game, someone scored, the crowd cheered, and you thought they were clapping for you.....Richard humor. Alot of my teachers in Jr. High and High School said "Oh, you're Richard's little brother? How wonderful, Richard was great!" One of your first jobs was at Wendy's on Randleman road, and I sometimes wore a Wendy's cap to school. You donated your time in Oak Island with the elderly. We love Wink's Pimento Cheese! You could tear into a bag of chips, whoa! Loads of fun playing car games on the Playstation and the original Atari! I actually had free tickets to a Monster truck show for you, me and Eric. You had the courage to walk right up and talk to girls you didn't know, whew... not me. I play tons of Beatles tunes for my son because of you. You mentioned that Jimmy Page must've made a deal with the devil to create such incredible guitar tracks with Led Zep... I agree! Your talent show performace in Jr. High blew everyone away, especially the chics. I remember visitng your high rise office at First Union in Atlanta. You took us up to the top of the Peachtree Tower. When your drummer Ronald left his drums over at the house, we jammed alot much to my delight... I was about 13. Managed to crash multiple cars along the way...and you were lucky to escape the first one. Helped me with some of my first job resumes. We invented kite wars by attaching pins to our kites and fighting to the death. Fled from the cops on Phil's motorcycle way back in the 70's. You, Eric and I locked out of the house all day and therefore hanging out in the neighbors barn...when Mom & Pop got home, TROUBLE! String art in your room, almost like spider webbing the place. You loved photography. I shot your old Toyota with my bb-gun, but I denied it back then. I thought I was killer at school when I was old enough to wear some of your shirts... later on when you borrowed mine, I hated it! I got your "hand me down car" a Chevy Chevette with a rebuilt engine. Always fascinated with the stars, planets, and the heavens. There are so many memories, they creep in and fade away day by day... we all love you and miss you immensely!
