Richard was born on a Thursday, March 17, 1960 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro,NC at 2:38 PM. The day he was born was sunny and cold. Ice was on trees from freezing rain and snow was on the ground from previous snows such as 3 wednesdays in a row with a total accumulation of 18" plus. From that day on after he was born, the weather seemed to continue to improve with spring just around the corner. Dr. Bill Stafford was mom's doctor and when he, at the right time told her a due date it was March 17. We think this is pretty unusual. He was born on the exact day. Also in those days we did not have the means of knowing whether it would be a boy or girl. We both wanted a boy and so it was. Another thing to mention.
